NEW BOARD ELECTED
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO PUBLISHERS AND BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION

The Trinidad & Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association (TTPBA) held its Annual General Meeting today and a new Board was elected to serve a two-year term. Mr. Grant Taylor is at the helm as President alongside core executive officers Douglas Wilson as Vice President and Christianne Elcock as Treasurer. Other Executive Board Members include Peter Ames, Lennox Toussaint, Brandon Khan, and outgoing President, Ms. Kiran Maharaj.
The Incoming President, Mr. Taylor said “It is a great honor to be asked to steer the ship during such evolving times for media, in an industry in significant transition and at a time when the world faces such an unprecedented challenge. It is a daunting task to take over from my esteemed colleague but I am heartened by the great foundation that she has left. I look forward to representing all members and the wider community that we serve.“
The TTPBA was formed in the early 1990’s and represents the largest cross-section of media owners and managers and holds within its purview, several objectives.

“Has a responsibility to protect and preserve the right of the people to know.
Holds within its portfolio the responsibility and undertaking to encourage practices that will strengthen and maintain the broadcast and publishing industry by improving industry standards through education and acknowledgment of organizations and individuals who have contributed significantly to the industry.
Is instrumental in the creation of a legal framework and regulations by representing its members through discussion, suggestions, and objections with governmental and other agencies who impact on our media sphere
Exists to encourage an exchange of information among members that will assist the Association in making decisions that affect the broadcast and publishing industry.”
Over the years, the Trinidad & Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association has been successful in influencing several regulatory and legislative matters in the interest of the public and continues to work with its member organizations to provide training in various spheres of journalism.
